The tax returns of military personnel are very unique and different from most things that you encounter. There are specific ways combat pays in handle, the state is selected and handled, and other little quirks. Many experienced tax professionals don't even know how to prepare them as they should be done. Fortunately, I live in Wilmington, NC which is very close to Jacksonville, NC and the marine base at Camp Lejeune. That means I have had plenty of experiencing and the pleasure of working with many military personnel that serve our country. I know all about the combat pay exclusions and the Military Spouse Residency Relief Act. I realize that it takes a little extra time to get the state returns optimized, but saving my clients money is well worth the effort!
